Introduction
The first efforts to improve human capacity in the Health Sector were started by the World Bank and IDA funded Family Health Project which was launched in 1992. One Provincial Health Development Center and seven Divisional Health Development Center including Divisional Health Development Center Bannu were established to organize in-service and on-the-job training for all categories of health personnel, with special emphasis on management training. The number of DHDCs have now been reduced to Five. Divisional Health Development Center (DHDC) Bannu is working as a sub office of Provincial Health Services Academy Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar, with the aim of capacity building of Human Resource, attached with the health department at the district level, as elsewhere in the province. DHDC Bannu stopped training activities from 2021 due to demolishing of Nursing hostel as well as academic block of Govt. College of Nursing Bannu and subsequent to vacation of DHDCs hostel by Bannu Medical College Bannu, the nursing students was shifted to the said hostel and are also utilizing both the halls and one room of DHDC Bannu as students lecture hall and faculty office respectively.
Objective of the Institute
To plan, organize, co-ordinate, supervise, undertake and monitor all in-service and on-the-job training of health personnel of Bannu Division.
