Introduction
Initially the institute was established as a School of Nursing in 1999 in Saidu Sharif Swat, adjacent to the Central Wing Saidu Teaching Hospital Swat. The school was later on upgraded to a College of Nursing for BS Nursing Degree program in the year 2020. New Academic block and hostel is under construction as per Pakistan Nursing Council and Khyber Medical University requirements.
The Government College of Nursing Swat offers four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The college is affiliated with the Khyber Medical University KMU for the purpose of student’s evaluation on their progress and award of degree and registered with Pakistan Nursing Council with approval of total 50 seats annually. The institute enrolled its first batch of BSN in February, 2021 (Session fall 2020) of total 50 students. First batch has appeared in 1st , 2nd, 3rd & 4th semester for university exam and 2nd batch appeared in 1st & 2nd semester final examination respectively while 3rd batch 1st semester examination is awaited.
Objectives:
- Program aim is to prepare competent Nursing graduate who are committed to the profession through comprehensive curriculum, high qualified faculty and conductive learning environment, who are equipped modern competencies, strong desire for community services along with highest ethical value with researched-base approach.
- To promote and strengthen the nursing skill for better competence in the nursing profession in general and patient care in particular.
- To meet the shortage of qualified nursing personnel in the country in general.
