Initially institute was established as Female Health Technician School in 1989, (Funded by USAID) and it was under control of Divisional Directorate (D.D) office afterward it was upgraded to Public Health School in 1996, with same infrastructure.
It imparts training to Lady Health Visitor Students. 30 students (25 from Hazara Division + 05 from Gilgit Baltistan) are inducted annually for two years course. In past Community midwives have been trained funded by Barani MRDP and PAIMAN projects. Practical training of students is done at Women Children Hospital Abbottabad BHU Nawan Shehar and BHU Mirpur.
Since long after the upgradation the institute was run by two WMO and one LHV at its original strength and one or two general duty Nursing Tutors. In July 2019 one PHC technician (MCH ) BPS-12 got upgraded to BPS-18 and two seat of Midwifery supervisor BPS-16 and one Public Health Supervisor BPS-16 and one PHC technician (MCH) BPS-12 were created after approval SNE 2019, no doubt after a long awaited struggle.
Building have Academic/Admin Block including Principal office vice principal, Tutors, Clerk offices, one Auditorium, one Laboratory and two Class rooms. There are two residential Hostels for 50 students and 03 houses (Two Quarters and one Bungalow) in premises. Although infrastructure of building is sound but construction of damaged boundary wall is still pending after 2005 earth quack.
As a dedicated team work of teaching staff NEB result is outstanding.
