INTRODUCTION TO THE COLLEGE
The Post Graduate College of Nursing (PGCN) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar was established in March 1988. It started functioning at the School of Nursing, Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) Peshawar. Initially, it was offering 02 Diploma courses (Ward Administration and Teaching Administration only).
It was engaged in partnership with School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Sheffield (UK) for twelve long years. Under this partnership program, the curricula of 13 Post Basic Specialty Diploma courses of one year duration were developed. The present building of Post Graduate College of Nursing was inaugurated on 31st August, 1999 funded by Ministry of Women Development & Youth Affairs Government of Pakistan and then taken over by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in July, 1999. Besides the 13 specialty courses this college also initiated two degree programs (02 years Post RN BScN and 04 years BSN) in 2012. Post Graduate College of Nursing is pioneer in commencing of higher nursing education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The infrastructure of the college is equipped with all the latest teaching learning resources, enthusiastic faculty, administration and supporting staff. The Post Graduate College of Nursing is a platform for nurses to achieve the desired outcomes for higher education in nursing. The students of PGCN also provided with the opportunity to learn clinical skills in three tertiary care hospitals; Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex, and Lady Reading Hospital in district Peshawar.

The Post Graduate College of Nursing is committed to be a center of excellence for nursing education, training, research and leadership at local, national and international levels.
MISSION
The mission is to produce nurse professionals, nurse educators, leaders, administrators, advocators, and researchers with ethical values.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COLLEGE
- To provide education and training for a lifelong learning continuum, enabling individuals to realize their full potential and satisfy the needs of a wide range of health and social care professionals locally, regionally and internationally.
- To produce nurses who can provide safe and culturally appropriate care to the patients, families and communities.
- To enhance therapeutic communication skills and build character, professional ethics and moral values.
- To equip nursing graduates for ready adaptation to technological advances in health care delivery system.
- To provide guidance to students for research activity and continue to build collaborative research links locally, nationally and internationally.
- To enhance leadership and management skills in order to improve the quality of nursing in all aspects.
